According to the Law of Ukraine “On Ensuring the Functioning of the Ukrainian Language as the State Language”, as of July 16, 2021, those intending to acquire Ukrainian citizenship or applying for election or appointment to positions specified by this Law must certify their level of proficiency in the state language. State certificates of proficiency in the state language are issued by the National Commission on State Language Standards based on the results of exams.
To conduct exams, the National Commission on State Language Standards appoints authorized institutions – higher education institutions – that provide with appropriate material, technical and organizational facilities for the examination and technically support the examination session.
Starting from January 25, 2023, the state language proficiency exam can be taken at the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”.

The registration process, exam procedure, sample tasks and other information related to obtaining a state certificate of proficiency in the state language can be found on the official website of the National Commission on State Language Standards https://mova.gov.ua/.
