Academic Council

The Academic Council of the Faculty is a collegial body of the faculty of a higher education institution of the third and fourth accreditation levels.

The Academic Council of the Faculty is headed by its chairperson, the Dean of the Faculty. The Academic Council of the Faculty includes ex officio deputy deans, heads of departments, as well as elected delegates representing research and teaching staff and elected from among them, head of the trade union bureau of the primary employees’ trade union organization, head of the trade union bureau of the primary trade union organization of students of the faculty, head of the student self-government body of the faculty.

At the same time, not less than 75 percent of the faculty’s academic council must be composed of scientific, research and education staff of the faculty and not less than 10 percent – elected delegates from among students.

Responsibilities of the Academic Council of the Faculty include:

  • defining the general directions  and areas of the Faculty research;
  • approving curricula and syllabi;
  • resolving issues of organization within the educational process at the Faculty.

The decisions of the Academic Council of the Faculty are made by the Dean of the Faculty.
